CFA lieutenant and ducted heating inspector are inspecting a duct heating unit.

It has been predicted that this winter will be very cold as the El Nino Effect dissipates this year, allowing Victoria's winter weather patterns to return to their normal iciness.

This means that many families will be utilizing their ducted heating systems more heavily to compensate for the unexpected climate shift. However, long term neglect of inactive ducts is likely to result in a build up of dust in the stagnant system, which can become a costly fire hazard.

Clogged engines and electrical faults in older ducted heaters or cheaper brands can spark a fire that travels rapidly through ducts laced with highly flammable dry dust and matter.

Consequently, it is important that ducted heating units are inspected thoroughly, to ensure the safe and hygienic operation of ducted heating units. Vigilance on the part of responsible homeowners will lessen the pressure on busy CFA Units who know all too well the ramifications of the careless attitude "out of sight out of mind".

Be careful: Clean your ducted heating units
